Opening Windows on Climate Change

Global consensus exists about the reality of climate change. There is a real need for action to both mitigate against detrimental impacts and adapt to our future climate.

This project is to support and empower communities to promote greener and healthier living through long-term behaviour change, and to measure their carbon reductions and demonstrate the positive impacts of their work.

London Sustainability Exchange’s Opening Windows on Climate Change project has been launched to support City Bridge Trust’s London’s Environment Programme. Seven community organisations from the London boroughs of Haringey, Merton, Westminster, Southwark, Richmond, Hackney and Brent are participating in the project.

The project began in Jan 2012 and runs until July 2013.

The project aims to:

  • Provide effective support for measurable carbon reduction in 7 communities in London, particularly those who would not otherwise engage with this agenda.
  • Provide strategies that will enable low carbon and sustainable lifestyles built on creative community development.

The objectives will be achieved through a series of training sessions and campaigns. LSx will:

  • Provide training for 7 community groups on social marketing campaigns for sustainable behaviour change;
  • Support these 7 community groups to effectively measure the impacts of their activities and specifically their campaigns;
  • Deliver broader activities to support delivery and facilitate the exchange of learning, information and knowledge around sustainability;
  • Signpost related support services and projects across London and produce a resource bank for the organisations participating.
